The annual KiwiCAM (Cognition and Memory) conference was held at the University of Auckland this year and was a great success, with 37 Honours, Masters, and PhD students from around Aotearoa presenting their research. Across two days, attendees enjoyed a diverse programme of 15-minute talks, 5-minute blitz presentations, and posters covering topics from memory and attention to cognitive neuroscience and development across the lifespan.

We were also fortunate to host two keynote speakers - Dr. Reece Roberts and Dr. Aleea Devitt - who provided insights into their academic journey and their research into memory and cognition.

Another highlight was the lively academic debate on “Is progress in the psychological and brain sciences impeded by an overemphasis on theory?” A big thanks to Chris Erb for moderating, and David Carmel, Paul Corballis, Kate Storrs and Sarah-Jayne Blakemore for their contributions and insights into this topic. A great way to end the conference.
