Planning your trip

KiwiCAM officially kicks off first thing on the morning of Saturday November 11, so plan to arrive Friday evening November 10. There will be an unofficial student social gathering on the Friday evening, details for which will be posted on the news page. KiwiCAM ends Sunday November 12, in the mid-afternoon.

KiwiCAM will be held at the Waikato campus in Hamilton, in our beautiful new building, "The Pā." Those of you who have been to The Hub at Vic will recognise the style, because both were developed by many of the same architects.

Accommodation

Campus

We've held some rooms in a campus residence hall, which you can book here for a good rate that includes breakfast.

Off-campus

We've also made a list of some good accommodation options off-campus. As a bonus, we've also included recommendations for places to eat, as well as the location for our two student social events.

Getting to Hamilton

Intercity Bus

The intercity bus will take you from Wellington, Palmerston North, and points in between. It takes a long time but isn't stupidly expensive. The 7:30am bus leaves Wellington Friday November 10 and gets you to Hamilton at 5:10pm. The intercity bus from Auckland is a much more reasonable fare and there are many trips per day.

AirNZ

AirNZ sometimes runs "specials" from Wellington that can be roughly the same price as the bus. But flights to and from PN are stupidly expensive, don't run every day, and inexplicably run you through Christchurch.

Getting around Hamilton

BUSIT - Hamilton Buses

The Hamilton buses are definitely the easiest way to get around. They are cheap and run relatively frequently. You can look up the different routes here and the fares here. The transit app is also a convenient way to plan your trip on the go.
